The public and private sectors are called for closer collaboration to drive the food sector as one of the five priority clusters for Brunei's diversification. The Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Economy, outlined the matter at the opening of the first session of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Roundtable Series. Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid, who is also Co-Deputy Chairperson of the Brunei Economic Development Board (BEDB) said the session was a strategic platform towards balanced and practical solutions and driving innovation that benefits everyone and strengthens the country's economy.
The session brought together policymakers, industry stakeholders and business leaders to exchange perspectives, identify sectoral challenges, and align efforts in driving the growth of Brunei's food industry, particularly through MSME development and Halal export expansion.
The session organised by BEDB in collaboration with the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brunei Darussalam, Brunei-ASEAN Business Advisory Council Brunei; APEC Business Advisory Council Brunei and the BIMP-EAGA Business Council Brunei. Themed “Unlocking Growth in Brunei's Food Industry", the session was held at a hotel in Gadong.
